Front Office

The Front Office team provides a wide array of business services for SHESC faculty, staff, students, and visitors.  These include key and ISAAC access, event planning, equipment checkout, building facilities, print/copy/scan support, and assisting with general school inquiries.

  • We help redirect general inquiries to the appropriate office or staff member.

  • We oversee the shipping and receiving of SHESC mail and packages, including support for Federal Express shipments.

  • We provide equipment checkout and currently offer laptops, mice, keyboards, and technology carts.

  • For teaching faculty and graduate teaching assistants, we provide a free copying service but do ask that such requests be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Need help or have a question for the Front Office team?  Feel free to email us at SHESCFrontOffice@asu.edu, call us at 480-965-6215, or visit us in SHESC 233. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.

Meet your Front Office team

I forgot my office keys at home. Is it possible to check out a key for temporary use?  Absolutely!  SHESC keeps extra keys on hand to most offices/labs. In the event we do not have an extra key on hand, a Front Office team member can assist with allowing you access to the room for the day.

What should I do if I encounter a building facility issue? Contact the Front Office as soon as possible via email or phone, and a member of our team will initiate a FACMAN ticket on your behalf.

I need to plan an event.  What do I do? Complete the Event Planning Form, and a member of our team will coordinate the details with you. Be sure to review the SHESC Process Guide for ASU Food and Safety Protocol prior to selecting a vendor.

What is the process for reserving conference rooms or meeting spaces? To reserve conference rooms or meeting spaces, please complete our Room Reservations Request Form and a member of our team will be in touch within 24 hours.

Event planning

Our department is here to make your event a success! From coordinating logistics to ensuring every detail is covered, we offer comprehensive event planning assistance tailored to your needs. Please take a moment to complete the Event Planning Form, and a member of our team will be in touch to guide you through the process and help bring your vision to life. We look forward to working with you!

The SHESC Front Office is dedicated to supporting event organizers by managing and facilitating speaker agreements. Our team works closely with both speakers and organizers to ensure all terms are clearly defined and aligned with event goals. We assist with drafting and reviewing contracts, coordinating schedules, and addressing any specific speaker needs or logistical details. Please contact the Front Office team for assistance.

Need to reserve a conference room for a meeting?  All room inquiries can be made via the Room Reservations Request Form, and a member of the Front Office team will assist with confirming availability and booking the reservation.

In the event there is no conference space available in SHESC or other departments, events and meetings can be booked in university classroom space. This does not include normal course scheduling for classes. Classrooms can be reserved by emailing: rooms@asu.edu.

Facilities management/requests

The Front Office team handles all key requests for students, staff and faculty. The following should prove helpful in understanding how to manage keys (new, returned, lost, etc.) utilizing the Lock Services and internal database. We handle keys for the following spaces and their corresponding building numbers:

  • SHESC = 004
  • SS (Social Sciences) = 005
  • MCENT (Matthews Center) = 34
  • MHALL (Matthews Hall) = 33
  • WHALL (West Hall) = 49

All personnel must return SHESC keys to the Front Office at the end of their term of access. All graduate and undergraduate keys must be returned at the end of the semester unless an extension is specifically requested by the supervising faculty member.

Faculty, staff, visiting scholars and post-doctoral scholars are allowed an office key and all other keys necessary to their position free of charge. To request a key, email SHESCFrontOffice@asu.edu your request with the following information included:

  • Full Name
  • ASU ID (10-digit #)
  • Room(s) you are requesting the key(s) for
  • Reason for key (faculty office, post doc research lab work, etc)
  • Duration of access (long term, semester, research term)

Requested keys take anywhere from 5-10 business days to process. The requestor will be contacted via email once the keys are received.

Graduate and undergraduate students are allowed one office/lab access key and one building access free of charge when necessary for program-related research and authorized by the supervising faculty or staff member. To request a key, email your request to SHESCFrontOffice@asu.edu with the following information included:

  • Full Name
  • ASU ID (10-digit #)
  • Room(s) you are requesting the key(s) for
  • Reason for key (faculty office, post doc research lab work, etc)
  • Duration of access (long term, semester, research term)
  • Approval from supervising faculty or staff member

Requested keys take anywhere from 5-10 business days to process. The requestor will be contacted via email once the keys are ready for pick up.

If access is needed to a room and/or office that requires you to scan your badge to enter, please contact the Front Office team for assistance.

Technology and equipment

The School of Human Evolution & Social Change (SHESC) offers a three to five-year computer refresh cycle for standard-issue computer equipment for central staff and faculty that are experiencing issues with their primary work machines. More information can be located at https://technology.thecollege.asu.edu/.

Please complete the Computer Refresh Form and a member of the Front Office staff will be in contact to begin the refresh process.

SHESC owns equipment that can be temporarily reserved by faculty, grad students and staff. Such equipment requests can be made via the Equipment Check-Out form.

Contact SHESCFrontOffice@asu.edu and a member of the team will submit a request with ASU’s movers. Moving requests typically take 1-2 weeks to be completed.
