Innovation in Social Science Instruction and Training Lab

Projects

The ISSIT Lab advances pedagogical approaches that promote student access to high-quality teaching and training efforts that result in skill development. Guided by a mission to transform educational practices within the social sciences by expanding engaged learning opportunities, the lab’s work spans three research foci:

  1. Improving how we teach and who we teach – We design, implement, and empirically study cutting-edge educational activities to increase student access (in-person and online) to learn social science methods and theories.
  2. Building transferrable skills through hands-on learning – We engage students in various research activities that build skills and competencies, preparing them for their next professional lives after college.
  3. Driving the scholarly literature in teaching and training – We lead the scholarship of teaching and learning in the social sciences by publishing high-quality research that assesses the outcomes of our innovative teaching strategies.
