Innovation in Social Science Instruction and Training Lab
Projects
The ISSIT Lab is dedicated to advancing pedagogical approaches that promote access to high-quality teaching and training efforts that lead to skill-based outcomes in social science higher education. Guided by a mission to transform educational practices and expand engaged learning opportunities for students, the lab’s work spans three research foci:
Improving how we teach and who we teach – We design, implement, and study cutting-edge educational activities to increase access for a wide range of students (in-person and online) to learn social science methods and theories.
Building transferrable skills through hands-on learning – We engage students in various research activities that build skills and competencies, ultimately preparing them for their next career and professional steps.
Driving the scholarly literature in teaching and training – We are leading the scholarship of teaching and learning in the social sciences by designing and publishing high-quality research that assesses the outcomes of our innovative teaching strategies.
