The School of Human Evolution and Social Change prides itself on being leaders in innovation and excellence in teaching and learning. We developed the first Global Health undergraduate and graduate programs in the country and were early adopters and leaders in online education. With 8 graduate and 7 undergraduate degree programs and certificates – offered in-person and virtual modalities – our agile and award-winning faculty are recognized for their dedication to providing high-quality education and experiences to all students.
Cutting-Edge Student Research Training
Since 1998 our faculty and School have been dedicated to providing access for undergraduate students to get involved in research along-side our world-renowned faculty.
With one of the largest undergraduate research programs, thousands of students have participated alongside our world-renowned faculty in various hands-on, research experiences, including research apprentices, in practicum courses, individually directed, and on study abroad programs.
Study Abroad and Field Schools
We are leaders in global education with over 15 years of providing various opportunities and sending over 1400 students to study abroad and participate in field schools.
The School of Human Evolution and Social Change offers a suite of faculty-directed study abroad programs designed to connect students with real-life issues that impact local communities, transect borders, and create lifelong memories alongside personal and professional growth.

In addition to providing cutting-edge opportunities for students, we also research and publish how those experiences impact students and share what the best practices are for engaging students in and outside of the classroom.
