Our reimagined Master of Arts in museum studies is designed to equip students with the skills and competencies needed for a variety of museum careers.

With a wide array of available electives, you'll have the opportunity to tailor your learning experience to suit your goals – whether that's museum management, becoming a specialist in NAGPRA repatriation or exploring other avenues within the field.

Our program stands out with its dedicated faculty, hands-on learning experiences and our commitment to developing the next generation of museum professionals.

Inclusive approach for better museum and collections management

Museums have a long history of benefitting from oppressive actions.

In this program, students will engage in hands-on learning opportunities to build better practices for a more ethical and collaborative approach to museum management.

Coursework focused on working with descendant communities, repatriation efforts, as well as appropriate care and handling of cultural collections.

Develop and grow your administrative skills, including applying for grants, budgeting and working with stakeholders.

Varied coursework not only allows each student to develop the competencies they want, but also those they need for an impactful career.

This program will provide hands-on instruction to learners on skills and knowledge that they will use in every role in the museum. It will connect them to networks and communities so they can find careers after graduation.
