The Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve offers a variety of guided tour options throughout the year for those seeking a more in-depth experience.

Private Group Tours

Photo of a tour at DVPPPrivate guided tours of the Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve are available for groups of six or more people. The 90-minute tour provides an in-depth look at the preserve, the Adobe Dam project, and the petroglyphs. Led by our knowledgeable and passionate docents, these tours allow visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the historic importance of the site, the desert landscape, and ask questions along the way. Reservations are required 2 weeks in advance.

Seasonal and Specialty Tours
Throughout the year, the Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve offers a variety of seasonal and specialty tours included with admission. These tours highlight different themes, including Life in the Desert, Desert Wildlife and Sunrise/Sunset Tours. School Field Trips

Field Trips are scheduled for 1 hour and 45 minutes and include an interactive tour of the museum, nature preserve, petroglyphs, mesquite bean grinding with manos and metates, and take-home activity. Reservations are required, at least four weeks in advance.

Our knowledgeable educators will introduce your students to the following subjects:

  • Archaeology
  • Prehistoric Native Cultures of Arizona
  • Rock Art
  • Desert Ecology
