Population Affinity Assessment of Glen Canyon and Navajo Reservoir Prehistoric Skeletal Remains

Theme:
Human Origins, Evolution and Diversity

Description

The ultimate objective of the project is synthesis and interpretation
of the physical anthropology data from skeletal remains excavated from
the following Southwestern regions:

1) Glen Canyon Project (Kayenta Anasazi and northern San Juan Anasazi);

2) Navajo Reservoir Project (northern San Juan Anasazi).

A written report submitted to the Bureau of Reclamation will provide
documentation for potential population affinity of these prehistoric
remains. The Bureau of Reclamation will use provided information to
evaluate claims of 11 modern Native American tribes for cultural
affiliation with the prehistoric groups. The project is in compliance
with federally-mandated directives stated in the Native American Graves
Protection Repatriation Act (P.L. 101-601; 25 USC 3001-3013).
