Undergraduate
ASM 494   Chronometry (3 credits)

Graduate
ASM 591   Chronometry (3 credits)

This course is intended to provide an overview of chronometric dating techniques useful in archaeological contexts. It will cover a range of techniques, including focused discussions of radiocarbon dating, dendrochronology and archaeomagnetic dating. This course will provide students with a practical guide to chronometry and archaeological chronology building, thus enabling them to effectively utilize these skills within their own research. Much of the information on archaeological chronometry will be given through lectures and class discussion, although about half of the time will be spent on an independent, publishable research project that focuses on a problem or question of chronometric interest.
