Field work at the ASU Cyprus Field School will focus on the Bronze Age village site of Politiko Troullia, Republic of Cyprus. Politiko Troullia lies 25 kilometers southwest of Nicosia, nestled in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains. This buried village offers evidence of agrarian households, decorated pottery, animal husbandry, crop cultivation and metallurgy leading to the advent of cities on Cyprus. Our investigations explore the development of Bronze Age life in the countryside from the picturesque vantage point of Politiko Troullia. This research is conducted under permit from the Department of Antiquities, Republic of Cyprus, and in cooperation with the Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute, Nicosia.

Field school students and project staff reside in Pera village, a two-kilometer walk from Politiko Troullia.  First breakfast, lunch and dinner are in Pera. Second breakfast (picnic style) is at Politiko Troullia.

The program fee of $3,000 includes housing, all meals and field trips while participating with the field school, and pickup from Larnaca Airport at the beginning of the field school. We find that students prefer to arrange their own transportation to Larnaca Airport on departure so that they can tailor their ride to fit their departure time.

Not included: ASU tuition and fees, airfare to and from Cyprus, passport expenses, books and personal expenditures.

The program may allow for time spent in non-program activities. You may wish to travel, sightsee or participate in activities or events in which you have a personal interest. Please note that participants are fully responsible for making arrangements and for all costs of transportation, lodging, food and additional expenses that may be associated with any non-program activities.
